Representatives of industry and associated professional organisations; trades unions and the HSE, comprising the tripartite Quarries National Joint Advisory Committee (QNJAC) have approved risk-based Guidance on Safe Face Management Operations in Quarries. Addressing hazards and risks, Information Sheet 1 considers established safe methods of working as well as alternatives. The fundamental importance of the Geotechnical Assessment and the crucial role of the Geotechnical Specialist are emphasised, as is the benefit of involving the workforce on a day-to-day basis.

QNJAC is a collaboration to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity. It relies on industry expertise to come together for the mutual benefit.
